Meet our functionalities

Generative Design

Generative urban design combines computation and human creativity to efficiently explore a wide range of solutions. It uses rule-based systems, real data and stakeholder input to optimise designs. Process is fully automated. Whether for buildings or entire cities, it improves our built environment.

Apartments Layout

Define the structure of the apartments in the development and enjoy immediate results. For each building, a floor plan will be drawn up to maximise usable space. Of course, we will also include circulation areas for you.

Solar Analysis

Each dwelling can be checked for compliance with daylighting requirements. You decide for which hours you want to make the calculations.

Obscuring Analysis

Completed window shading analyses for all planned dwellings. Don't be surprised by interesting urban layouts that don't meet the requirements of the standards.

Standalone Software

Regardless of the subscription plan chosen, every user has access to the full version of the programme. Kolega's functionalities will make it possible to carry out complete absorption analyses for investments.

Data Export

You can use any of Kolega's spatial solutions according to your team's needs and habits. View 3D and 2D views within the programme or export projections and solids to other software.

Reports

A complete set of investment parameters comes with every Kolega space solution. Compare variants, modify requirements, use for further documents, reports and statistics.

Oh wait, we have some great perks too!

(and we call it: standard)

Workflow

The whole programme is divided into sequential steps that structure the process of data collection, processing and use. At the end of the work, you will not find that you have forgotten something or that the solutions you have arrived at are inadequate for the project conditions.

Support

Whether you're encountering a technical obstacle or seeking tips to optimize your project, our support network is here to ensure that every question is answered and every challenge is met with a solution. Rest assured, with our dedicated support, you're never alone in your journey to mastering our software.

Constatnt improvement

We are constantly developing and improving Kolega. With each subscription you will receive free updates to the software. When you start working, you can be sure that the results will be compatible with all subsequent versions of Kolega.

Technical stuff

Start the project

  • Start a new design project or reopen an existing one and continue working. For new projects, users may be prompted to enter initial parameters. For ongoing projects, the software loads the most recent state of the project, allowing users to pick up where they left off. This ensures a smooth workflow and makes it easy to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • The demo feature demonstrates key functionality, shows how to enter parameters, create designs or use other tools within the software. Demos can be particularly useful for new users to familiarise themselves with the software, or for potential customers to evaluate the suitability of the software for their needs. It's a hands-on way to experience the software's capabilities without committing to a project.

  • This functionality allows users to bring external files or data into the software. This could mean importing site plans, existing layouts or 3D models from supported file formats (e.g. DXF, JSON, BMP, DotBIM, EsriGrid). It is crucial for integrating Kolega into existing workflows, allowing users to start with a solid foundation or reference, and increasing the software's versatility and compatibility with other tools or previous work.

  • Naming allows users to assign meaningful names or identifiers to their projects, designs or specific elements within a project. This is important for organisation, especially when managing multiple projects or versions of a design. This feature can also include the ability to rename elements or projects as needed to reflect changes or new directions in the design process.

Set parameters

  • Allows users to define key architectural design preferences and requirements, such as building dimensions, number of floors, apartment and parking structure. These parameters guide the generation of design layouts that meet the architectural vision of the project.

  • This feature allows users to enter detailed information about the site, including dimensions, site area and any special conditions or constraints. This basic data ensures that the designs generated are feasible and customised for the specific site.

  • Provides a platform to specify geographic and environmental details about the site, such as exact location, existing neighbourhood or topography. This information can influence design decisions to optimise comfort, efficiency and context sensitivity.

  • Focuses on the immediate context of the site, enabling users to take neighbouring buildings into account. Understanding the surroundings helps to design buildings that are in harmony with their surroundings and respect privacy and views.

  • Allows users to enter or import data about the site's landform and terrain features. This is essential for creating designs that take into account slopes, elevation changes and other topographical challenges, ensuring that the building's foundation and structure are properly integrated into the landscape.

  • Provides tools to configure parameters for various design analyses, such as solar exposure. By adjusting these settings, users can perform targeted assessments to optimise the design for sustainability, comfort and efficiency.

  • Identifies potential obstructions to views, light or airflow in the design, allowing adjustments to be made to minimise negative impacts on the building or its surroundings.

Explore results

  • Allows users to compare different designs or versions side-by-side for a direct comparison of features, performance and aesthetics. Designed for users to review and select the option that best meets their needs and preferences.

  • Toggles between isometric and perspective views, providing different visual interpretations of the 3D model for better spatial understanding.

  • Each spatial solution is described by a set of coefficients that summarise both the parameters entered and the results obtained.

  • The proposed solutions are already subject to prior calculations in terms of sunlight and obstructions. Each urban layout is described with numerical results and has the possibility to graphically represent objects that meet or do not meet the defined requirements.

  • Clear presentation of monitoring points, their location and occurrence statistics. The analyses provide a reliable check of the existing conditions, which can be used for further design or legislative work.

  • Provides three-dimensional visualisations of designs, enhancing understanding of space, volume and interaction between design elements. Also includes flat representations of designs, such as floor plans, essential for technical documentation and detailed design processes.

  • Insights to evaluate the economic and financial aspects of design projects. It allows users to estimate costs, forecast potential returns on investment, assess market viability and analyse the overall financial health of a project.

Export solutions

  • Generates detailed reports summarising design choices, analysis results and compliance with project requirements, useful for documentation and presentations.

  • Provides flat representations of designs, such as floor plans, essential for technical documentation and detailed design processes.

  • Provides three-dimensional visualisations of designs, enhancing understanding of space, volume and interaction between design elements.

Support

  • A comprehensive help document that guides users through the features, usage and troubleshooting of the software, enhancing their ability to use the tool effectively.

  • Recorded sessions designed to introduce new users to the software, covering basic functionality, best practices and tips for getting started.

  • Collects user feedback on potential enhancements or new features they would like to see, informing future development priorities.

  • Allows users to report software problems or bugs they encounter, facilitating rapid identification and resolution by the development team.

Generate solutions

  • Fully automatic generation of design layouts based on inputted site information, architectural parameters and user-defined constraints, providing fast and varied design alternatives. All calculations and analysis started in one place.

  • Adjusts and refines designs to improve performance, aesthetics or efficiency, focusing on improving specific aspects such as space utilisation, solar and obstacle impact.

  • For each plot of land, a number of spatial solutions are generated, using a variety of urban layouts and building typologies. The number of results depends on the time a colleague has to search for solutions.

Let’s sum up.

Your new conceptual design process might look simple like that:

Provide the data.

Get solutions.

Provide the data. Get solutions.
